Stoic
A daily companion for stoic philosophy. Each day pairs you with a quote or a longer themed reflection — and stays out of your way the rest of the time.
What it does
- Daily quotes from Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Epictetus and other stoic voices.
- Themed days every seventh day — a longer exploration of a single stoic concept with key takeaways.
- Reflections you can keep alongside any lesson, with a stateless AI conversation if you'd like to think through an idea further.
- Calendar view of every lesson so you can revisit anything you've read.
- Home screen widgets in small, medium, and large sizes.
- Face ID lock if you want your reflections kept private.
- Private iCloud sync across your devices.
Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. Stoic doesn't have user accounts and doesn't ask for an email address. The app uses Apple App Attest to talk to its backend — that confirms the request comes from a real copy of the app, but it doesn't identify you.
Where is my data stored?
Your starred lessons, calendar entries, and reflections live in your private iCloud database. Apple holds the encryption keys; we cannot read your data. Nothing user-specific is stored on our servers.
Why does Stoic ask for Face ID?
Face ID is optional. If you turn it on, the app will lock when you leave it and unlock when you return. The Face ID secret is held by iOS — Stoic never sees it.
Will my widgets refresh automatically?
Yes. iOS schedules widget timelines on its own cadence; opening the app once a day is the most reliable way to keep them current.
Reflections aren't appearing on my other device.
Sync uses CloudKit. Make sure both devices are signed in to the same iCloud account and that iCloud Drive is enabled in Settings. New entries can take a minute or two to propagate.
I want to delete everything.
Open Stoic and go to Settings → Delete Account. That removes your local data on the device, your encrypted lessons in iCloud, and the device-attestation record on our backend in one step. Repeat on each device you've signed in with. If you've already uninstalled and can't run that flow, the attestation record is anonymous and is automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity anyway. See the account deletion page for the full picture.
